FCFCG Member's Royal Visit

img_6020FCFCG member group Prudhoe Community Allotment welcomed a royal guest in April, when His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent visited the project.

The visit was in recognition of the group's achievement in gaining the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2009. The project, based in a small town in the Tyne valley, Northumberland, aims to provide allotment gardening for people of all abilities.

During the tour he met representatives from the Prudhoe Town Council, Prudhoe Community Partnership, the Community Foundation, National Society of Allotment and Leisure gardeners,  Allotment Regeneration initiative, and judges from Northumbria in Bloom as well as some of the volunteers and service users on the allotment.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a ceramic daffodil made by one of the mental health service users who comes to the site twice a week.
