Wales Fieldworkers

FCFCG has recently recruited fieldworkers throughout Wales to provide expertise, advise and support to communities looking to develop community farms and garden and to provide greater support for existing community farms and gardens. All Fieldworkers are based on FCFCG member projects in Wales.

Fieldworkers:

  • Dan Morris: (Cymdeithas Y Dalar) Dan has recently been involved with setting up a community allotments and gardens project in Llandeilo. Dan has extensive knowledge in horticulture and working with community groups.
  • Chris Jones (Swansea Community Farm) Chris has experience in the daily running of a community farm and the management of the animal husbandry section, including breeding, educational visits and training.
  • Alastair Leith (Field-days Organic) Alastair runs a therapeutic horticultural project based at the Amelia Trust Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan, working with a range of clients and volunteers with mixed abilities and learning difficulties.
  • Ann Bateman (Riverside Community Garden Allotment Project) Ann has experience of project managing and developing a community garden in the centre of Cardiff. The garden engages with a diverse range of volunteers and has created areas for food production and wildlife conservation.
  • Jenny Howell (Riverside Community Garden Allotment Project) Jenny is involved with the daily running of this community garden project and can provide advise on aspects of this, activities to engage different volunteer groups including BME, refugees and young people and developing a garden sustainably to include renewable energy, bee keeping and forest gardening.
  • Judith Wright (Garth-hillside Organic Community Garden) Judith has been the driving force behind the creation of this rural community garden project near Llangollen and can advise on the setting up process, design and development and the daily management of a community garden.
  • Naomi Johnson (Moelyci) Naomi is a member of the management board at Moelyci Environmental Centre, a social enterprise near Bangor. The centre includes a market garden and allotments. Naomi can provide advise on the running of such a large community project, the setting up and management of a social enterprise and the delivery of an Intermediate Labour Scheme.
