Bob Bull (Glachbeg Croft Education Centre, Black Isle) – Bob is a rural science teacher who has a lot of experience of being involved with community farms and school farms and can give advice on educational work, livestock issues and more. He managed a school and community farm in Southampton and has set up and runs the Glachbeg Croft as an Education Centre near Inverness.
Lou Evans (Redhall Walled garden, Edinburgh) – Lou has worked at the Redhall Walled Garden for 10 years so has a lot of experience of practical gardening/wildlife gardening and working with people with mental illness.
Jean Gavin (Head Gardener at the Hidden Gardens, Glasgow) - Jean has practical knowledge and expertise in maintaining and developing a community resource and a public greenspace within her current role at the Hidden Gardens. She has four years experience of working with volunteers from various cultures and backgrounds, offering therapeutic gardening opportunities. Trained in both horticulture and garden design, Jean has practical horticultural knowledge (vegetable and ornamental), and can also advise on garden design (including designing for people with Alzheimer’s), planning, project management, tendering processes and Health and Safety.
Kate Kelly (Community Garden Co-ordinator in North Glasgow Community Food Initiative) - She has lots of experience mentoring and supervising volunteers, some of whom have identified learning needs or come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, in therapeutic gardening environments. An English teacher for many years, she is interested in developing educational outdoor opportunities for children of all ages. She can provide support and advice on the start up of community gardens and allotments.
Mary Stewart (L'Arche Inverness Community Garden) - Mary works part-time in the garden workshop with people who have learning disabilities and is working towards setting up her own horticulture project. As an Occupational Therapist for many years before undertaking her Social and Therapeutic training, she uses her experience to adapt and grade horticulture activities for people with various disabilities.
Amanda James (Voluntary Convenor, Potager Garden, Kinross) - Amanda is a former social worker, and experienced gardener, and for the last 3 years has been voluntary convenor of the Potager garden in Kinross. At the garden she provides an educational experience for primary school children about plants and gardening, and hands on growing of vegetables. She has expertise and experience in working with volunteers, propagation of plants, and garden design, and a particular interest in gardening for wildlife.
George Philip (Farm Manager, Easter Anguston Training Farm, Aberdeen) - George was the farm manager at VSA's Easter Anguston training farm for adults with special needs. He has a wide range of experience because of the activities undertaken at the farm.These included calf rearing, looking after pigs, looking after hens, managing a small garden centre and farm shop, growing a range of soft fruits and a range of field grown crops - cereals, potatoes, swedes, carrots, grass. He has also has experience of running a training programme.
