West Yorks 6 September
West Yorkshire event on Tuesday 6 September, 9.30am-3.30pm, hosted by Bradford Community Environment Project.
The event takes place at BCEP's Wibsey Community Garden (formerly Wibsey Park Nursery) Beacon Road, Wibsey. The day includes a chance to find out about the Co-op and its farms and organisations able to help you 'tread lightly' and a choice of one-hour workshops. A vegetarian lunch will be provided, using local produce where possible.
Morning Workshops
- An Introduction to Bee-Keeping (British Bee-Keepers' Association)
- Green manures: Instead of leaving your vegetable beds empty till Spring, consider building up their fertility with some green manure. Demonstration beds, and a chance to get stuck in by investigating, sowing and digging in. Different types will be investigated and you will be able to take away some seeds to try it for yourself. Afternoon Workshops
- Medicinal Plants: Find out about plants you already know or can readily identify in your gardens or in the wild and gain the confidence to make preparations for treating minor ailments and for first aid. Take away a sample. (Ross Menzies, The Herbal Clinic).
- Seasonal Edible Containers: The end of the season doesn't mean to say you have to stop growing food! Plant up a container of different edibles to take home with you as part of this workshop. (BCEP)
