Northumberland 9 June

Northumberland Event hosted by Berwick Community Development Trust took place on Thursday 9 June.

berwick1The day included a chance to find out about the Co-op and its farms and local organisations able to help attendees 'tread lightly' plus a choice from four one-hour workshops.

  • An introduction to bee-keeping (British Bee-Keepers' Association).
  • Home energy survey: come away with your personal survey (Berwick Community Trust).
  • Comfrey plant food factory and crop protection: plant food and comfrey plant nodules to take away (Border Organic Gardeners).
  • Medicinal plants  Find out about plants you already know or can readily identify in your gardens or in the wild and gain the confidence to make preparations for treating minor ailments and for first aid. Take away a sample preparation. (Ross Menzies, The Herbal Clinic)

Directions
Berwick-upon-Tweed is on the main east coast railway line so is easily accessible from Newcastle and Edinburgh. Bus timetables from outlying villages can be supplied for example from Lowick, Belford, Seahouses, Alnwick and Wooler. William Elder Building is a short walk from the railway station. Walk up the concourse, turn right onto Railway Street, take the first left after 20 yards continuing on Railway Street. The William Elder Building is on the main road directly opposite.
